Andrea Parker is a London based producer and DJ. In the early 1990s she formed the group Inky Blacknuss with Alex Knight (Fat Cat) and Yello manager/engineer Ian Tregoning. Later, Parker started working with David Morley as Two Sandwiches Short Of A Lunchbox, who went on to make Too Good To Be Strange (1994) and Angular Art(1995). In 1998 she released her debut solo album Kiss My Arp onMo Wax. Parker is the founder of two labels: Touchin‘ Bass (whose roster includes DJ Godfather, DJ Assault, Otto Von Schirach, Alpha 606, Doctor Evil, Kero, and Chaotic state, among others) andAperture. In 2011, Aperture released Private Dreams And Public Nightmares, on which Parker and Daz Quayle reworked and re-interpreted Daphne Oram’s early electronic music.

Talking about this mix, which she titled Darkside, Parker explains, “The mix was done in Traktor with two occasionally three turntables. Some ripped vinyl and a lot of rum and crabbies!!

”My neighbours didn’t seem to enjoy it much!” she adds.

Parker will be DJing at this year’s Bloc Weekend, which takes place at Minehead Butlins, from 11–13 March. Parker will be playing in the pub venue on Sunday at 6pm. The Wire’s Derek Walmsley will also be a Bloc hosting a conversation with Mute records founder Daniel Miller, Sunday 6:30pm.
